GIFA and METEC are the names behind the world's leading trade fairs for foundry technology and metallurgical technology. Their Indonesian edition, organised by Messe Düsseldorf Asia, has become the region's most important gathering for metallurgy, steel production, casting technology and foundry systems.
That audience matters to us. A general industrial exhibition brings visitors who need a workshop crane. A foundry and metallurgy exhibition brings plant engineers who need a crane that survives above a ladle. Those are entirely different conversations, and only one of them requires the design work we do.
Because the event is co-located with MINING Indonesia, the same badge also opens the halls where Indonesia's mine operators, EPC contractors and industrial park developers are meeting. For visitors sourcing across the full chain, from ore handling to molten metal, four days at JIExpo covers ground that would otherwise take months of site visits.
Foundry and ladle cranes for molten metal handling
The crane on our invitation artwork is a double girder foundry crane over a ladle, and that is deliberate. Molten metal service is where crane design stops being a catalogue exercise.
Typical configurations we engineer for this duty:
● Capacity from 20 to 500 tonnes with main and auxiliary hoists
● Span from 16 to 34 metres, lifting height from 12 to 30 metres
● Working duty class A7 to A8 for continuous casting and charging cycles Redundant braking
● on the main hoisting mechanism, so a single brake failure does not release the load
● Heat shielding beneath the trolley, temperature resistant cabling and motors rated for elevated ambient conditions
● Hard tooth surface reducers and forged wheels selected for high cycle operation
Bring your bay drawings and pouring sequence. Those two documents tell us more in five minutes than a specification sheet does in an hour.
Ferronickel, stainless steel and carbon steel plants need more than a casting crane. Charging cranes, scrap handling cranes, slab and coil handling cranes and maintenance cranes all sit on the same runway system and all have to work around the same production rhythm. We design them as a set rather than as separate purchases.
Outside the casting bay, the same plant moves raw material, slabs and finished product:
● Gantry and semi gantry cranes from 5 to 200 tonnes, span 18 to 35 metres , with cantilevers and wind protection sized for outdoor and coastal exposure
● Grab bucket cranes from 5 to 32 tonnes, grab volume 1 to 12 cubic metres, duty class A6 to A7, with bucket sizing matched to the bulk density of your actual material
Several details decide whether a crane performs in Indonesia or becomes a maintenance problem. We would rather raise them before the quotation than after commissioning:
Power supply
● at 220/380 V, 50 Hz, confirmed against the site rather than a generic export standard
Tropical and coastal protection
● with IP54 as a minimum and IP65 for outdoor or jetty side enclosures, plus a marine grade paint system
Seismic design basis
● which matters for projects in Sulawesi, Halmahera and other active zones
Island logistics
● including sectional transport design, shipping method and on site installation supervision
Documentation package
●covering mill certificates, welding inspection records and load test reports at 125 percent static and 110 percent dynamic
Our conversations at Booth 7407 will be most useful if you are:
● Anickel, ferronickel or HPAL smelter operator planning new lines or replacing ageing cranes
● Asteel or stainless steel producer commissioning casting, rolling or coil handling capacity
